A negligent doctor might be suspended and have his license revoked. A police impersonator will have a criminal fine or three years in a federal prison, a careless driver gets a ticket but what happens when their is a rogue, aggressive, negligent, unfit, low insight, careless and wannabe plumber impersonator? Results is the victim still pays him to afford a lawyer and accountant to fight the lawsuit.
I got an email from disgruntled and dejected customers who were lamenting about their plumbing issue gone sour. I had a good reputation and experience and they trusted me to carry out oversight because the previous plumber erred. Before I can make a conclusion why this customers felt sad, betrayed and scammed, I had to analyze, investigate and determine how the job was done.
My first assignment was an old complaining about a leakage on her water heater. The previous plumber had advised her that her water heater was old since it had been their for almost a decade. The lady argued that the previous water heater was still functioning properly and it was only seven years. The previous plumber insisted for a new one at an exorbitant cost of five thousand dollars. That was three times as much as normal because replacing the water heater is usually fifteen hundred. One glance at her water heater was enough for me to conclude that her plumbing issue had nothing to do with the water heater. I went to my truck and replaced her supply line and the leakage stopped. She was delighted at how I did it quick and promptly.
“All he had to do was replace the rubber gasket because the other one had a tear.” I advised and she realized how she had been fooled and duped.
The second customer complained that he just did a new water line but it had stopped functioning. I drove to his residence as quick as possible believing debris might have entered and blocked his pipes. I got their and noticed the previous plumber forgot to pick up his litter and I knew he lacked discipline to clean up his mess. I asked the owner of the house to let me dig a bit to verify what size of pipe and material he just buried. I dug like five inches and advised the home owner the job had to be done all over again.
“This is ridiculous, I just spend twenty five thousand dollars! is their another way !” he protested.
“Normal pipes should be buried twelve inch, covered with sand as it insulates the pipe from cold weather. you face the fear of pipe damage and the pipe freezing because it is buried at level of frost penetration.” I advised as he clenched his fist ready to punch anything infront of him.
The third customer had just done an expensive renovation with new moen shower head, toilet, bath tub and kitchen. I got their and she did not have to show me her problem, a visible water stain was on her ceiling. A leak inside the wall of her bathroom had ruined her carpet and hardwood flooring. She was lucky to address issue on time because molds could have multiplied and the restoration guys might have had to demolish her entire house. I asked for her permission to cut the wall and look at the source of the leak. I cut, observed and she did not like my answer.
“This means thirty thousand down the drain, Why?” She grimaced almost crying.
“Your plumber used shark pipe fittings, These cheap fittings aren’t strong enough to create a tough, durable connection. A leak might be here tomorrow their on another fittings and I believe it is good we get rid of this fittings and replace with copper soldering fittings.”
I got tired of repairing somebody else mess and decided to find out who this guy calling himself Harts plumbing was. His social media revealed a life of opulence and glitz. I scrolled more pictures and saw him sitting in VIP sits while scantily dressed ladies strutted next to him. He also bought a mansion at a pristine and affluent neighborhood closer to the might of water bodies. Other pages revealed he was well travelled during his vacation hours and he just knew best destination. He also drove a Rolls Royce phantom that was worth a cool four hundred thousand dollars.
I knew confronting him alone could be dangerous because such individuals are psychopaths and could escalate the situation because they believe they have authority and have deep understanding. I mobilized some of his disgruntled clients to make a citizen arrest and I needed some volunteers and hidden battery of cameras to make him famous.
An old lady volunteered and called Harts the plumber. He arrived right on time ready to rescue her situation. The lady explained that her waste garbage disposal had just stoped and wasn’t functioning. He went under the sink and carried some test. We remained hidden watching from a safe distance as Harts did what he did best! fleecing clients. After trouble shooting for a while he claimed that the blades in the garbage disposal were jammed and it had to be replaced. At that moment we knew it was time to come out and confront him.
“Did you forget to plug it in, You saw it was disconnected from power.” I reminded him.
“Who are you?” He said this as more voices joined to condemn him.
“You are a scam artist.” Some individuals wanted to Lynch him and I also had to protect his safety and let him explain himself.
“When you buy a football ticket and Sea Hawk lose the game, do you claim your money back, of course not, I lose some games and I win some games and I demand respect.” he pleaded while starting to get angry and aggressive he had been busted.
“Enough is enough with you scam bag.” His answer made some people charge forward and he knew he was in trouble. I shielded some people from getting close to him and he was able to sprint to the door, rush to his truck and speed to safety. The people shared his story wide enough on social media begging for his license to be revoked.
We heard again about Harts the plumber again after a month reincarnating in a new city under a new identity.
